Definition
If your package has a gross value higher than $2500, USA export law may require an EEI (Electronic Export Indentifier) to be filed with the IRS (Internal Revenue Service). The Electronic Export Identifier, or EEI, is the replacement for the no-longer-accepted manual filing process known as the shipper's export declaration or SED form.
What to expect
While most carriers charge $20 to $40 to process this, Aeropost will take care of all the necessary paperwork at no additional cost to you. But to execute the paperwork, we need an invoice with full contact details of our supplier and the shipper's US TAX ID number. Because we've done this a number of times in the past, we have TAX ID numbers for a lot of the main shippers. If for some reason we don't have it, we will get in touch with you to see if you are able to get it from your supplier.
What you can do now
Please make sure to upload an invoice with full contact details of your supplier so we can file the paperwork as soon as we have all the info. There is no extra cost for this service however the extra labour involved means the package usually gets manifested 1-2 days later than usual.
